OPTALERT customer DBP wins Insurance Commission of WA Road Safey Award for Driver Drowsiness Tracking.

OPTALERT’s Chief Executive Officer, John Prendergast congratulates DBP for taking out top honours at the 2010 Insurance Commission of Western Australia Road Safety Awards in Perth on 6 September.

As the Asset Manager and Maintainer for the Dampier to Bunbury Natural Gas Pipeline in Western Australia, DBP oversees a pipeline that – at nearly 1600kms – is longer than the entire state of California.

Winners in the Safe Road Use section for “Driver Drowsiness Tracking”, DBP was recognised at the prestigious industry awards for demonstrating the state’s best commitment to safe road practices.

OPTALERT’s Prendergast has praise for Manager of Health, Safety and Environment at DBP, Alyson Vinciguerra, who was integral to reviewing safety practices following a serious accident on an access road.

“We’ve worked with Alyson to help reduce the Fatigue Risk Profile of DBP’s operations by using OPTALERT’s alertness monitoring technology to ensure their people are safe whilst driving in some of the most challenging conditions,” says Prendergast, who has overseen the implementation OPTALERT across all of DBP’s trucks.

Since DBP implemented OPTALERT,DBP have not had a single vehicle accident associated with fatigue or drowsiness.
