
OPTALERT has taken out top honours at the 2010 Australian Mining Prospect Awards.
Winning the “Excellence in Mine Occupational Health & Safety (OH&S)” category, OPTALERT was up against 11 other finalist from around the country including Xstrata, Rio-Tinto, Centennial Coal and CITIC.
The OPTALERT technology was praised for helping change the fatigue risk profile of the mining industy by award judges organised by Australian Mining Magazine.
“We’re proud to be recognised as a leader in safety in the mining industry,” said Business Development Managers Jaime Vega (below left) and Rodrigo Alvear (below right) in accepting the prestigious award on behalf of the OPTALERT team at a gala dinner event in Sydney.

The awards, which celebrated innovation and excellence, saw a record turnout for the event which recognised those adding to the industry.
Hosted by Vince Sorrenti and with NSW Minerals Council chief executive Dr Nikki Williams giving a rousing speech on the current state of the resources industry and its future, the night saw a number of winners across twelve categories ranging from Excellence in Environmental Management, and Outstanding Contribution to Mining, through to the prestigious Mine of the Year award.
“It’s great how it really brings so many people together from across mining,” and that “these awards are really highlighting what an amazing industry we work in,” added Jaime Vega.
